Chaplain to the Poultry-Compter, 1761. Lecturer in the parishes of St George's, Botolph Lane and St Botolph's, Billingsgate. Formed an academy for teaching oratory "mechanically", 1762. Studied medicine, assuming the title of "doctor". Abridged and printed sermons of eminent divines for the use of the clergy. Established a lucrative printing and bookselling trade. Married (1) Oct. 10, 1764, Elizabeth, dau. of James Burns of St Paul's, Covent Garden; married again twice.
