Foster: subscribed 23 April, 1613; B.A. from Magdalen Hall 9 Feb., 1613-14, M.A. 5 July, 1616 (a painful preacher), lecturer at Leicester and at Grantham, co. Lincoln, where he was buried 6 June, 1655. See Ath., iii. 397.
Chaplain to John Lord Darcy in 1626; he preached Darcy's funeral sermon, and Darcy, in his will, left Angell £20 and his godson, John Angell (younger son of John Angell the minister) £10 a year for his better education. See Huntington Library, San Marino, HA 1906 (John Lord Darcy to the 5th Earl of Huntingdon, 12 Dec. 1626); J. Angel, 'The Right Government of Thoughts' (1659), p. 199; Borthwick Institute, York, Will of Lord Darcy, Aston (Doncaster), bundle for August 1637. (We owe these references to Dr Ben Coates.)
See 'Angell, John (d. 1655)' in ODNB.
The forename on the subscription record of 1619 is probably an error for 'John'.
