VENN: (as Ash) Adm. sizar EMMANUEL Apr. 1617; ordained deacon (Peterborough) 5 Oct 1619 and priest 6 Oct. 1619. Ejected from a living in Staffs; chaplain to Earl of Manchester; lecturer Cornhill, London, and R of St Austin's 1655-62; one of the divines who went to Breda to meet Charles II; died 23 Aug. 1662. He may be same as CCEd ID 67347 (related to the ejection referred to; was a member of the Westminster Assembly of Divines; his chaplaincy was to Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester, parliamentary leader. Appears to have been a native of Ashby de la Zouch where he left a charitable bequest; a friend allowed him use of a church at Wroxall; he was regarded as a non-conformist minister. St Austin likely to be St Augustine with St Faith next to St Paul's Cathedral.
