According to a liber cleri of 1662, JT was ordained deacon by William, bishop of Lincoln (probably Barlow) on an unrecorded date and was ordained priest by Bishop Barlow on 28 February 1613 ns (Leicestershire RO, 1 D 41/12/6, fo. 12r).
On 6 August 1662 he took the declaration against resistance to the crown as incumbent of both Croxton and Hurston (Lincolnshire Archives, Sub. III).
