Clearly some confusions in VENN:
Adm. pens. at ST JOHN'S, Apr. 21, 1774. Of Lincolnshire. S. of the Rev. Dr [Richard] (1732), Preb. of Canterbury. ' Matric. Michs. 1774; Scholar, 1774; B.A. 1778; M.A. 1783. Ord. deacon (Lichfield, Litt. dim. from Canterbury) Feb. 24, 1781; priest (Norwich, Litt. dim. from Canterbury) Mar. 11, 1781. [Perhaps R. of Adisham (with Chapelry of Staple), Kent, 1781-1818.] R. of Clannaborough, Devon, 1807-27. Died in 1827, at Great Torrington, aged 74. Doubtless brother of Richard (1781); father of Charles E. (1819), and of John N. (1818). (G. Mag., 1827, I. 376, which erroneously gives him of St John's College, Oxford; Canterbury Act Bk., which records the R. of Adisham as dead in 1818.)
Easily confused with man of same name ordained from Alban Hall at Lichfield in 1780-1
