Foster: son of William of Ashford, Kent, gent., HERTFORD COLLEGE matric. 11 Feb. 1746/7 aged 17; BA LINCOLN COLLEGE 16 Feb. 1750/1; V of Hougham nr. Dover 1762 and R of St James, Dover; died 1795; father of William 1780 (CCED ID 37935).
That he was also rector of Yate, Gloucs. may seem unlikely but this might be deduced from the patron details for this living - William Tournay of 'Hyde' which could well be error for Hythe where this family of Tournays had their roots and home. Genealogical information gives his birth year as 1730 which makes him 17 on matriculation as with the one who became R of Houghton etc. and his death in Dover as 4 Mar. 1795; his death at Yate recorded at May 1795; this seems unlikely as a coincidence.
