READY, REDIE, READYE in Foster; READ in VCH
Foster: BA from ST JOHN'S 10 July 1568; MA 17 Jan. 1571/2 perhaps from GLOUCESTER HALL; V of Sherborne, Gloucs. 1571.
VCH Gloucestershire,Vol. 10 with refs. Hockaday Abs. cccxxxiv and xliv.1572 f.42 states that Alexander Read, as vicar of Sherborne, was non resident from 1569, refused to pay first fruits, neglected to repair the chancel of the church and in 1572 refused to appear before the consistory court and was supspended and excommunicated; he was still said to be vicar in 1576; no-one else was presented and in 1582 he was re-instated and held the vicarage until 1616.
It is possible that Alexander Ready CCED ID 74429 is the same man, V of Darenth, Kent 1573-82, the years that this man below was absent from Sherborne.
