Foster: of Whalley, Cistercian, BD 17 May 1521; see Fasti I, 56.
Richard Wyche moved from Whalley, Lancs, to be abbot of Tintern 1521-1536; responsible for handing over abbey and estates to Henry VIII's Visitors; received pension (amounts in various accounts vary.) Believed to be perpetual curate and priest at Woolaston (near Lydney) to which Tintern abbey had presented regularly before Dissolution. No trace in these records of his being there. Only record relates him to 'Sheperdyne' in 1544 - Shepperdine is S. Gloucesterhire side of Severn, nearly opposite Lydney, lying between Thornbury/Oldbury; no parish church there - evidence of an early chapel found in recent arachaeological work; small church in modern times; see, amongst other accounts, "The Welsh Cistercians", D. H. Williams 2001, p. 71
