Donor to the College Library. His large library was bought for the British Museum. Author, classical, etc. Died Dec. 28, 1817. Buried at Deptford. M.I. in Westminster Abbey and in Cliffe Church. 'Charles Burney,DD, FRS, FAS, Rectr of this parish, and of St Paul's, Deptford, in this county; prebendary of Lincoln, and chaplain in ordinary to his majesty. Born 3rd of December 1757, died 28th of Decr 1817. The inhabitants impressed with a feeling of respect for their late reverend rector, and unfeigned sorrow for his loss, have erected this tablet in his memory.'
