"History of the University of Edinburgh from 1580 to 1646" by Thomas Crauford A.M. describes him as Master of New College, St Andrew's University and professor of Divinity there from 1627, also 3rd Master and Professor of Ecclesiastical History there 1628-1638. Born Dundee, minister of St Mary, Dundee 1626-35; poet and writer, accused of Arminianism in 1638 and deposed from the university by the Presbyterian Assembley.
