VENN: adm. sizar. aged 17 at ST JOHN'S COLLEGE 13 Sep. 1647; son of George (1613)(CEDb ID 137500), late rector of South Collingham, Notts. Born there; school Uppingham; matric. 1647/8; assistant master Oakham School. In Anglican and afterwards in Presbyterian orders. R of Wilby, Northants; ejected 1662. Died at Westminster 8 May 1703 where he was a celebrated Congregational minister. Famed for his wit and learning. See Calamy II, 233, and DNB
