Married, Oct. 31, 1833, Julia, dau. of John Marshall, of Hallsteads, Ullswater (some of whose religious poems are given in Lord Selbourne's Book of Praise), and had issue. A strict Evangelical, and especially anxious for rigid observance of Sunday; in 1852, spoke at a public meeting against a proposal for opening the Crystal Palace on Sundays, which caused much controversy. Author, Psalms and Hymns, and many Sermons. Died Jan. 24, 1865, at 31, Brunswick Square, Brighton. Brother of Edward B. (1811). Father of Charles A. (1854) and Julius M. (1860).
