Account in VCH, Cambs., VI, 122, confirms Curate of 1692 and licensed curate of 1704 must be the same man. Allington Harrison, lay rector, had appointed Richardson as his curate c. 1690, quarrelled with him and sought to eject him on his own authority. In 1705 he brought in two clergyment to replace him, and 'the congregation witnessed a physical contest for the pulpit and reading-desk'. Richardson won the ensuing lawsuit in the ecclesiastical court.
