Adm. sizar (age 17) at TRINITY, Mar. 31, 1800. S. of Robert, of Cambridge. [B. 1783.] School, Baldock, Herts. ' Matric. Michs. 1804; Scholar; B.A. 1805; M.A. 1808. Chaplain, R.N.; accompanied Admiral Sir G. Burlton to India, in H.M.S. Cornwallis. Sir George died in 1815, and White petitioned to be appointed on the Madras establishment; the H.E.I.C. agreed, subject to the approbation of the Bishop of London, which involved the necessity of White going to England, and then waiting an indefinite time. He therefore declined the post. Appointed (one of the last six) Chaplain to the H.E.I.C., 1816. Died in Madras, Sept. 30, 1816, aged 33. M.I. in St Edward's Church, Cambridge, and St Mary's Cemetery, Madras, where he is described as "Chaplain to the Flagships." (E. A. B. Barnard; V. Hodson; F. Penny.)
