NB record of 20 May 1687 clearly records TM as schoolmaster at Reading.
Described as fellow of St.John's, Oxford in 1686.
Foster: s. Th. of London (city), pleb. ST. JOHN'S COLL. matric. 3 July 1677, aged 17; B.A. 1681, M.A. 1685; admitted to Merchant Taylors' school, born 9 Nov. 1660; master of Reading school. See Robinson, i.283.
The curate of Didcot has been linked to the schoolmaster of Reading as there is only one M.A. in either Venn/Foster at this period.
Given that he was clearly ordained both D and P in 1685, it seems likely that the letters testimonial of 1686 and the letter confirming his subscription in 1687 relate not to his ordination (despite the record office classification of the papers), but rather to his appointment, possibly in the first case as curate of Didcot and in the second as schoolmaster at Reading.
