The MA of this name at the time is the man who was 3rd Master at Shrewsbury School in 1368. VCH, Vol. 10 for Shropshire (www.british-history.ac.uk/vchsalop/vol10) suggests a Robert Ogdon, MA, was instituted R of Broseley in 1646 but was in some way excluded in or before 1651 by a 'pastor' called Barton, but that he regained the living later, put it in the care of his curate nephew from 1671 while he was bishop's chaplain and until his death in 1680. The dates given for the schoolmaster at Shrewsbury and maybe Buxton, fit with 28408's absences from Broseley and Willey - (GW Fisher, Annals of Shrewsbury School online p. 16)
Thus Venn: Adm. sizar. aged 19 at ST JOHN'S COLLEGE 1 Jul. 1634; son of Robert, vintner of Chelmsford, Essex. Born there; school Chelmsford; matric. 1634 as Ugdon; BA 1637/8; MA 1641; 3rd master Shrewsbury 1638-49, resigned; perhaps HM of Buxton, Derby 1654 (see GW Fisher "Shrewsbury").
