Venn: PIHAM or PYHAM, JOHN. B.A. from Clare, 1600-1; M.A. 1604. Ord. deacon (Colchester) July 3, 1600; priest, July 10, 1603. C. of Chatham, Kent, 1627.
In Aug. 1635 parishioners of Chatham petitioned for John Pyham to become preacher to the navy at Chatham; Sir Henry Palmer, comptroller of the navy, described him as an arrant dunce and a scraping wretch (CSPD 1635, pp. 302, 323-4).
