J.P. Earwaker, East Cheshire, 2 vols. (1877-1881), 1.220, notes that despite institution he never once signs the register as Rector but always as 'Curate' or 'Minister'. During his residence at Cheadle other clergy serve as Rector, so if the institution was valid, he must have resigned and stayed on as Curate.
Burial entry in parish register notes:
'1631. Edward Berron, clarke and curate of Cheadle, 10th of December'.
