J.P. Earwaker, East Cheshire, 2 vols. (1877-1881), 1.220, gives Buckley/Bulkeley as Ll.B., instituted as Rector of Cheadle on 4 July 1551; presented by Richard Bulkeley, esq., upon the death of Thomas Powell; his successor upon his resignation instituted 25 April 1563.
VCH Lancs., 6.7, gives date of institution as Vicar of Leyland on 11 Feb. 1562/3 (and noted as 'lately instituted' in 1563 Visitation.
