J.P. Earwaker, East Cheshire, 2 vols. (1877-80), 1.363-4: Instituted to Stockport on 23 May 1614; presented by John Langley, Rector of Prestwich.
'There can be no doubt that there was something informal about his election, probably owing to the outlawry of John Warren of Poynton, Esq., the patron for Stockport, for there are still preserved at Chester, Letters Patent presenting to the rectory of Stockport, granted June 9, 12 james [1614] to Edward Doughtie, on the death of Richard Gerard. Kenyon, however, died Rector of Stockport, his death being thgus noticed in the Parish Register:
" 1615. Julie 27. Richard Kenion, parson of Stockport, was buried in the church of Manchester".
[This 'something informal' no doubt excplains why Doughtie's institution, which followed closely on Kenyon's death, was recorded as upon vacancy by the natural death of Richard gerrard, who had been Rector of Stockport from 1577 to 1614].
