Foster: son of Francis of Canterbury, Kent, baronet; CHRIST CHRUCH matric. 17 Oct. 1719 aged 17; BA 1723; MA 1726; deputy clerk of the closet to George II.
Vol. 4 of the Complete Baronetage , G E Cokayne, covering creations of 1665-1707, makes clearer the connections with benefices in Kent. It adds to the above: became 5th Baronet in 1768; born c. 1702, apparently DD, holding several preferments in Kent (R St George, Canterbury 1730-60; V of Selling 1732; R of Burmarsh 1737; R of Plukley to 1760 and R of Ickham 1760 until his death; prebendary Hereford 1738-69; Archdeacon of Canterbury 1748-69; prebendary of Canterbury 1759-69; deputy clerk of closet 1740). He was twice married, 10 children were born to him and his first wife, (1730) Jane Leigh, daughter of Revd Peter Leigh, rector of Whitchurch, Salop, all of whom died before the father died and without progeny. [2nd wife, 1751, Jane Geekie, sister of William Geekie, archdeacon of Gloucester]. His death on 4 Dec. 1769 was sudden and unexpected, buried Ickham.
