  VENN: Matric. pens. from Trinity College, Mich. 1622, Scholar from Westminster. BA 1626/7; MA 1630. C. of Crowhurst, 1644-1652. Held a living from which he was sequestered; kept a celebrated school at Cheam, Surrey. D. 1685, aged 83. MI Cheam.
  
  M.R. West, 'Cheam School', Genealogists' magazine, vol. 5, April 1929-Dec. 1931,130-33, gives an English translation of the MI:
  H.S.E.
  George Aldrich S.T.P.
  born in London, Educated at Cambridge.
  He especially deserved well at the hands of the people
  As a Minister of the Gospel
  of the Anglican Church. If any one else was able to
  be busy in sacred matter, then, when not
  too much harried by the rebels, was he said to be vigorous.
  He zealously lent useful assistance in educating boys
  as master of the Cheam Private School
  And this or that Mother Academy
  owed more to no one in proportion to the fresh
  increase of well born youth.
  He died in his 84th year
  an age indeed late in years if you consider
  the merits of the case and the public slaughter
  by untimely death.
  He died on the 13th June, 1685.

  So b. 1601/1602, d. 1685.
  In 1633 he siged the parish register as Curate: '1633 Georgius Aldrich 23 Dec. curionatum suscepit'. ('Cheam School', 131).
  
  The common link between Cheam, St Andrew Holborn and the Lichfield prebend is John Hacket, Rector of both parishes in the 1630s and Restoration Bishop of Coventry & Lichfield.
