[He was the illegitimate son of Sarah Brinkley, of Woodbridge, dau. of John Brinkley, butcher; she afterwards married (Oct. 18, 1770) Jacob Boulter, of the Boot Inn, Gt Bealings, who for many years was his stepson's pensioner. Vintner in the College Reg. probably refers to Jacob Boulter, the innkeeper. Toler may be Isler, but is an unknown name in the district.] School, Benhall (Mr Dimsdale). Scholar, 1783-8; matric.
