Organised a home for servants out of employment, and the Albert Institution, Blackfriars. Author, Hymns and Psalms for Divine Worship; Sermon on the death of William Wilberforce, preached at St Paul's, Mill Hill. Died Aug. 13, 1867, aged 67 (sic), at Richmond Hill, Surrey. [There is considerable confusion among authorities as to the identity of this graduate. Foster, Men at the Bar, and D.N.B., 2nd Suppl., identify him with the Bencher of the Middle Temple who died June 9, 1902, and was father of Reginald (1864), K.C., although he is not so identified in the Middle Temple Benchers, nor in The Times full obituary of June 10, 1902. On the other hand, Boase, Modern Engl. Biography and the G. Mag., 1867, identify him with the V. of St Paul's, Mill Hill, and The Times styles him M.A. in the announcement of death, 1867. Moreover, on the title-page of the Sermon, preached on Bishop Wilberforce and published in London, 1833, the author is styled M.A. of Queens' Coll., Cambridge. On this evidence the above identification is assumed to be correct.
