Master at Market Harborough Grammar School, Leics., 1736-51. R. of Dingley, Northants., 1751-4. C. of Draughton c. 1752-77. R. of Coston (alias Colston), Leics., 1754-77. Received a dispensation from Canterbury to hold the Rectory of Maidwell, with Coston, 1759; described as of Trinity College, Cambridge. R. of Maidwell, 1759-77; resided there. The wellknown ‘Parson Adams’ in Joseph Andrews. [The suggested identification of John Adams of Queens' (1740) in Al. Cant., Pt I, with the R. of Coston is incorrect.] Died Oct. 30, 1777, aged 62.
