Advocated the High Church and Tory cause both in sermons and pamphlets. Impeached by the House of Commons for two sermons favouring non-resistance and condemning toleration; found guilty and suspended from preaching for three years, 1710; great popular demonstration in his favour. R. of Selattyn, Salop, 1710-3. R. of St Andrew's, Holborn, 1713-24. Died at Highgate, June 5, 1724. Buried in St Andrew's, Holborn. 'Monumental inscription. Will, Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
