VCH Lancs.4.128 identifies as Josiah Horne, instituted by the King on 27 March 1616 upon the promotion of his predecessor John Ryder to a bishopric (the grounds for royal presentation which were challenged. The Earl of Derby presented Thomas Bold, MA and later John Mere.)
Horne continued to hold the living until his death in 1626.
