  b. 1781. s of Peter Gauntlett, gent and his wife Elizabeth, of Winchester. Educated Trinity, Oxford, BA 1802, MA 1806. Ordained deacon by bp of Winchester in 1803 as curate of Bishops Sutton and Ropley, and as priest in 1805. Between 1807 and 1819 he was rector of Lainston, and in 1817 he was presented to the vicarage of Cricklade St Sampson, Wilts, which he held until his death in 1849.
