Mag., XXXIX, gives the father's name as Thomas George.] B. at Stamford, Lincs. Schools, Uppingham and Hackney, London (Dr Heathcote). ' Matric. Michs. 1817; Scholar, 1819; B.A. 1821; M.A. 1824. Fellow, 1823. Ord. deacon (Ely) Apr. 11, 1826; priest, June 10, 1827. R. of Lyndon, Rutland, 1830-53. A distinguished educationalist; from 1838 onwards engaged in the preparation of school books. Edited in twenty-five volumes portions of all the chief Latin and Greek authors and prepared adaptations from American and German authors. Also voluminous as a theological writer; promoted the interests of the Church of England by means of periodical literature. Died Mar. 9, 1853, at Lyndon.
