VENN: Adm. pens. at QUEENS', Sept. 24, 1617. Probably 2nd son of George, of Fillongley, Warws. Born there. Matric. 1621; B.A. 1621/2; M.A. 1625. Ord. deacon (London) May 23, 1624. Master of Braintree School, 1626-7; of Halstead, c. 1627; and for 21 years the famous puritan Master of Felsted, 1628-49. Vicar of High Easter, Essex, 1648-62, where he acted as ordaining presbyter, and commissioner for the removal of scandalous ministers. Ejected, 1662, and retired to Dunmow. Buried at Felsted, 1670.
