Entered the Army (Ensign, 99th Foot, 1780; retired from the Army, Aug. 1781). Re-adm. at Trinity, Feb. 10, 1798, as a ‘Tenyear’ man, James Estwart (sic) Atwood. R. of Saxlingham, Norfolk, 1787-1810 (successor instituted Sept. 10, 1811). Went to India. Chaplain of the East India Co. at St Thomas's Mount and Poonamallee, 1799. Buried July 24, 1810, at St Thomas's Mount, Fort St George, Madras. Brother of George (1765). (Record of Old Westminsters.)
