  *It is highly likely that Foster is wrong about the benefices in Somerset - see CCED ID 57353, Thomas Higgins 1585-1639
  
  HIs son Thomas was ambassador to Venice and MP (see ODNB);
  Dr Thomas Higgons was buried in St Chad Shrewsbury where his tombstone states he was also chaplain to James I
