FOSTER: of Somerset; B.A. from ORIEL COLL. 29 Jan. 1599-1600, M.A. 9 July 1603, B.D. 28 May 1611, then chaplain to the bishop of Salisbury, rector of Manningford Bruce 1605, vicar of Collingbourne Kingston 1611, and rector of Ludgershall (all Wilts.) 1620, until his death, buried in the chancel of his church 27 Feb. 1641; father of Bartholomew 1634 and of John 1638. Schoolmaster of Shaw linked because (i) the name is unusual (ii) Shaw is close to Oxford and (iii) because Parsons was studying for a MA at the time, and school mastering was one conventional way to make ends meet.
