In 1626 appointed minister for the king's ships at Chatham after a petition from the ships' officers and a testimonial signed by eight ministers of the city of London. In Sept. 1635 he wrote to the admiralty commissioners, stating that he had been preacher to the navy at Chatham for nine years and, having been presented to a small country rectory, was willing to resign his place to Thomas Grayne (CSPD 1625-6, p. 427, 461, 470; 1627-8, p. 185; 1635, p. 365). We owe these references to Dr Andrew Thrush.
