Leviathan, under Lord Howe, 1794; present at the battle of Cape St Vincent. Head Master of Sedbergh School, 1799-1819. Not a success as a master, the numbers of boys being so reduced that he closed the school and taught the remaining pupils in his own house. Married, Mar. 27, 1799, at Holme-by-the-Sea, Norfolk, Sarah Vitty, youngest dau. of Mr Vitty, attorney, of Cambridge. Died Nov. 9, 1819, at Sedbergh; his wife died at about the same time, leaving four sons and eight daughters almost destitute.
