Adm. at KING'S, a scholar from Eton, Aug. 5, 1797. [4th and youngest] s. of Dr - [Frederick] (1756), of Windsor (and Elizabeth, dau. of Abel Aldridge, of Uxbridge, Middlesex). [B. Oct. 10, 1777, at Windsor.] Bapt. there, Nov. 23, 1777. ' Matric. Michs. 1797; B.A. 1802; M.A. 1805; B.D. 1813; D.D. (per Lit. Reg.) 1814. Fellow, 1800-3; Provost, 1814-50. Vice-Chancellor, 1814-15 and 1830-1. Assistant Master at Eton, 1801-9; Lower Master, 1809-14. Chaplain-in-Ordinary to King George III and the three succeeding sovereigns. Married (1) Nov. 19, 1803, Miss - Carbonell; (2) 1816, Mary Ann, eldest dau. of Alexander Cottin, of Cheverells, Herts., and had issue. Devoted much of his time to collecting rare books. Died Oct. 20, 1850. Left the College £300 to purchase plate, and £3000 to the Chapel funds; his daughter bequeathed his library to the College. Brother of Henry W. M. (1785). (Eton Coll.
