Lodged as a bachelor, at the 'George' Inn at Caistor, marrying the landlord's widow, formerly Barbara Bullock, his barmaid. Described as 'of Caistor', to distinguish him from a contemporary Oxonian, R. of Nettleton, who was no relation. Great-uncle of the Tennyson brothers, of whom Charles became his heir; said to have disliked 'this new-fangled Byron'. Died Mar. 9, 1835. (Foster, Index Eccles.; G.
