Earwaker, 2.520-1: epitaph on a mural tablet of grey slate fixed on the south wall of the vestibule of the Legh chapel on the south side of Macclesfield church) (fn. gives translation from Latin here: note that in original Legh's permission comes as fourth line]:
'By permission of the Hon. Richard Legh, of Lyme, Esq., near this place are deposited in the belief of a blessed resurrection, the remains of Thomas Branker, M.A., formerly fellow of Exeter College, Oxford, rector of the church of Tilston, late a most worthy master of the King's School of Macclesfield. He was well-skilled in the sacred and other languages, a high authority and a student of natural philosophy, mathematics and chemistry, which he pursued with credit, under the auspices of the Hon. Robert Boyle. The great sanctity of his life was only equalled by his courtesy, in short, he was a most accomplished man. He was born A.D. 1635, and died Nov. 26, 1676'.
