Venn in agreement but confirms the MA was 1699 and gives ordained priest 3 June 1694.
Draft Gloucestershire VCH for Ashelworth confirms he was vicar of Ashelworth and Corse as stated (despite what appears to be a second institution at Ashelworth in 1700), and also that he was in addition vicar of a parish in Essex. However, the Charles Smyth/Smith at Great Bromley is recorded as having died in 1710 - not sure where error lies.
