[The family trace their descent from the Boges, who were living at Bordeaux in the 12th century; some members of the family came to England in the 13th century and settled in London and East Anglia under the name of Bogeys or Bogays.] B. Feb. 1, 1768, at Langenhoe. School, Colchester (Mr Hewitt). Admitted a free burgess of Colchester, 1784, at the early age of 16. ' Matric. Michs. 1786; Scholar, 1787; B.A. 1790; M.A. 1793. Joined the West Essex Militia; Capt., 1803-7. Ord. deacon (Salisbury, Litt. dim. from London) Jan. 6, 1809; priest (London) Jan. 7, 1816; C. of North Ockendon, Essex, 1809-17. Resided at Hornchurch Lodge, Hornchurch; then at Fox Hall, Upminster, and afterwards at Langham Hall, near Colchester. Inherited from his father the manor of Ilgars, Woodham Ferrers, and a mansion on East Hill, Colchester. Married Elizabeth Mayor, dau. of George Stubbs, solicitor, of Westminster, and granddaughter of Sir James Esdaile, Mar. 12, 1805. In 1825, left England with his family, intending to settle in the South of France. Died July 6, 1825, at Calais. Buried there. Brother of William (1795); father of the next, William R. T.
