V. of Catterick, Yorks., 1840-69. Chaplain to the Archbishop of York. A good man of business, being often appointed by Order to act in place of Bishop Kaye, when Master of Christ's. Supported reforms in the University and in the College. Joined in the petition to Parliament of 62 resident Members of the Senate for the abolition of every religious test required before proceeding to any degree (except in Divinity), see Cooper, Annals, IV. 581. Supported Dr Graham in his attempt to secure new statutes for the College. Died Jan. 1869, at Catterick. (Peile, II. 371.)
