Obtained a license to pass to Leyden, 1632; ;age 22; resident in the house of Mr Theophilus Eaton in London.; After a visit to Franeker, in Holland, he went to New England, 1637. First Master of the School at Cambridge, Mass., which was afterwards organized as Harvard College, 1638-9; dismissed for cruelty. Absconded to England. Ph.D. and M.D. Padua, 1647. V. of Bishop's Castle, Salop, 1661. R. of Bideford, Devon, 1668. Died a prisoner for debt, 1674. Brother of Jonathan (1630-1), of Samuel (1620-1) and of Theophilus, the founder of New Haven. (Al.
