VENN: Adm. sizar. aged 30 at PEMBROKE, 18 Jun. 1788; clerk of Enford, Wilts; born London. Caleb Carrington V of Berkeley 1799-1837, died 1839; father of Frederick Augustus Carrington 1801-1860, barrister of Lincoln's Inn and Recorder of Wokingham 1858-60. His "Carrington's Life Pills" were still advertised in 1842, a cure for colds, rheumatism, gout and indigestion, sold by all medicine dealers. (See Boase; PJ Barnwell.)
Link with curacies in Wiltshire (and his ordination records) strongly support the description in Venn that this was same man who was vicar of Berkeley, Gloucs. 1799-1837. He was licenced to Enford only in 1790. No degree is mentioned.
His date of death more likely to be in 1837, May 29 - reported in July - Dec. edition of the Gentleman's Magazine - in his 80th year.
