B.A. 1616-7; M.A. 1620. Ord. deacon (Peterb.) Apr. 24; priest, Apr. 25, 1623. V. of Dean Prior, Devon, 1629-47; ejected, lived in Westminster; restored to his living, 1662-74. Though professing a distaste for his Devonshire vicarage he frankly acknowledged that his best poetry was written at Dean Prior. Poet Buried there, Oct. 15, 1674. M.I.
