Hujus ecclesiae rem et statum optime perspexit, prudentissime in omnibus officiis administravit. Utriusque parochiae gregem diligenter curavit Multis virtutibus ornatus multis occidit flebilis. Plorarit parentes ejus filium observantissimum conjunux maritum amantissimum, liberi patrem mitissimum amici amicum feiedlissimum egeni patronum benficium qui tamen omnes non tanquam sine spe moerent. NB: There are, oddly, two records of Gilman's institution as prebendary, one in 1688 and one in 1689. The former is not an error, as the patron is recorded as James II and similar double records exist for the appointment of Gilman's predecessor as dean.
