Michs. 1827; B.A. 1831; M.A. 1834. In Holy Orders. Occurs as of Weston Coney, Staffs., M.A., in Clergy Lists, 1846-54, without cure. Died Mar. 18, 1854, aged 46. [To be distinguished from his cousin, Smith Child, created Bart., 1868, with whom he is confused in The Eagle, XIX, and who died Mar. 27, 1896, age 88; apparently both were born in the same year and were named after their paternal grandfather. In Burke, P. and B., and other authorities only one son of the Admiral is givenJohn George Child, the father of Smith Child, 1st Bart., whose two sons, Smith Hill and John George, were at Cambridge.] (G.
